Benazir Bhutto Killed by Assassination

The Bhutto Assassination: A Human Rights Perspective
by Mary Shaw
On Thursday, December 27, Benazir Bhutto, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the current opposition party leader, succumbed to an assassin's bullet. Chaos has ensued.
Will this be a step backwards in efforts to restore democracy in nuclear Pakistan? I hope not, but Bhutto's assassination is not a good sign.
Benazir Bhutto was good for Pakistan and good for the world. She worked tirelessly to promote democracy in her country, and to stand up for the rights of the poor and the needy. This is in stark contrast to Pakistani President Musharraf's preferred method of governance by military dictatorship.
As the first woman ever elected to lead a Muslim state, Bhutto was also a symbol of progress for women's rights in the Islamic world.
With Bhutto's death, the human rights community has lost a strong and steadfast ally.
In response to the assassination, Ali Dayan Hasan of Human Rights Watch said, "Benazir Bhutto was a democrat who believed in the supremacy of constitutional rule and, throughout her career, sought power through the ballot box. She died campaigning for votes and calling for a free election."
Amnesty International (AI) is calling on Musharraf's government to uphold the rule of law and the rules of democratic behavior in the aftermath of the Bhutto assassination. AI's Catherine Baber stated, "The killing of Benazir Bhutto must not be allowed to become a setback to civilian governance or indeed lead to a further crackdown on civil liberties."
My condolences go out to Bhutto's family and political followers.
May she rest in peace.

I always heard Benazir Bhutto's name eversince I was in my elementary years in education. and my Social Studies' teacher been always telling me how great this leader and how brave she was to fight for Pakistan. But just Yesterday she was killed by assassination. It was really a traggic death for a great leader of peace. I believe she is the hope of Pakistan's democracy but now I don't know what will happen to her country now that she's gone. I hope Pakistan will find a new leader as good as Benazir Bhutto who was the first woman elected to lead a Muslim state, having been twice elected Prime Minister of Pakistan..

It is December 20, 2007—eleven (11) days before the end of the year—and I am here in my room, thinking about everything that has happened to me this year. There are so many good memories that have been marked in my heart. This is the year when we formed a group of jolly, enthusiastic, talented, smart, and happy friends. This is the year when a day wouldn’t end without us—the group—seeing each other at our usual hangout place before we went to our respective sanctuaries for the night. We would gather in a place where we could eat (we love to eat), sing, dance, and chat about what was happening around us, especially the common scenarios at the office where most of the group worked.
Now, as the year ends, I can see that the group is slowly breaking into pieces. Ann got married last September, and obviously she can’t always join the group’s escapades because she is pregnant and now has new priorities—her husband and her soon-to-be baby girl—but she still manages to be with us from time to time. Dennis went to Davao City, his hometown, to stay there for good, and Mykiss, who is also from Davao, will be staying there permanently starting next week. Clyde may go soul-searching in other cities, hopefully at the start of 2008. Shane and Dave are already booked to fly abroad early next year, maybe January or February. Wayne, who is also a very close friend, went to Cebu City last Monday for greener pastures (he’s not really part of the group, but he is a good friend of mine). And that leaves us—the Cagay-anons of the group.
Actually, we all worked at the same company, but because of certain circumstances—our rights as employees were not really taken care of (remember the famous line, “GIVE UP YOUR RIGHTS!”—such an insane idea), and perhaps because some of us were not satisfied with the management—most of us decided not to stay any longer in that organization. But that is not the issue here. The real issue is the friendship and the bonding moments that were formed and are now slowly breaking apart as the year ends.
I may sound dramatic, but that’s how I truly feel. I feel lonely this coming Christmas because my friends are going far away—off to distant places. Though I have my loving and happy family here in CDO, I still find myself longing for my group of friends.
May we gather together again soon and relive those moments of happiness, joy, and laughter. Let us face the coming years ahead together.
Merry Christmas!

But this services are important and we are thankful for them because almost everybody are so busy that they don't have all the time to do the house chores and these services company are our answer to our dillema.
Because we tried to do-it-ourselves trying to get rid of those termites in the house and ended up doing over and over again, this time I will give it to the Autorities to end our dilemma over termites crawling anywhere in the house eating up our house.

But the jet-setters financed their fun on the credit cards of unsuspecting neighbors in their high-end apartment building and other identity-fraud victims, police said Monday.
Jocelyn Kirsch, 22, and Edward K. Anderton, 25, were charged Friday with identity theft, forgery, unlawful use of a computer and a laundry list of other counts.
Their fraud scheme, estimated at $100,000 this year alone, paid for jaunts to Paris, London and Hawaii and other luxury perks, including Kirsch's stop at a tony salon for $1,700 worth of hair extensions, police said.
"They were two young people that were given many gifts in life," said Detective Terry Sweeney, who spoke of the couple's supportive families and private schooling. "And the very best thing they could do was victimize other people."
It was not immediately clear if the couple had hired attorneys. Neither has a listed telephone number in Philadelphia.
Police started investigating Nov. 19 after one of the couple's neighbors reported that she thought her identity had been stolen. A day later, the woman heard from a local UPS store about a waiting package, although she had not ordered anything.
Police kept an eye on the store and arrested Anderton and Kirsch on Friday when they walked in to pick up the package, detectives said.
A weekend search of the couple's $3,000-a-month apartment turned up a cache of tech toys: four computers, two printers, a scanner and an industrial machine that makes ID cards. Police also found $17,500 in cash, dozens of credit cards and fake drivers' licenses, and keys to unlock many of the apartments and mailboxes in their upscale Rittenhouse Square apartment building. Police are not yet sure how they got the keys.
"They were like a parasite that infected that building," Sweeney said.
The search also turned up a book titled, "The Art of Cheating: A Nasty Little Book for Tricky Little Schemers and Their Hapless Victims," as well as a newspaper article on "How to Spot Fake IDs."
Police believe the scheme dates back at least two years and involves victims beyond the apartment house. A slideshow found on one of their computers shows the couple's high-flying travels: kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower, sporting matching red swim wear at a ritzy oceanfront resort; and dining at an elegant restaurant.
Anderton was recently fired from a job as a financial analyst that had paid for at least his initial stay in the apartment, Lt. George Ondrejka said. Kirsch is a student at Drexel University.
Sweeney fears that police are not finished finding victims. So far, they know of five victims, one of whom was taken for $30,000.
Kirsch's father arrived from Winston-Salem, N.C., to post her $25,000 bond Sunday. Anderton, who hails from Everett, Wash., posted bond Monday, police said.

You tend to be independent, rational, and logical. You are balanced and grounded. You know how to get along well with others. You need a bit of space in your life, but you're not a recluse. You expect people to give you a small amount of privacy, and you respect their privacy as well. You are a free thinker. You are unique, open minded, and artistic. And this song fits the feeling I felt last night...
Here Tonight by Hale
So long to you my love
Don't be afraid to run away
I know you'll be okay
Just take your time to find
But I need you here tonight
I need you here inside
I need you here tonight
I really, really need you here tonight
Made up my mind on this
Too late for me to hold you back
Maybe too short or dumb
To cry for you but I will anyway
It's all my fault
To feel this way for you that day
I know I am and I will
Though it's wrong,so wrong
Cause I need you here tonight
I need you here inside
I need you here tonight
I really, really need you here
I need you, I need you
I need you here inside
I need you I need you
I really, really need you
