Manny Pacquiao All Time Filipino Boxing Champion

July 05, 2006 0
8 o'clock, Sunday morning, July 2, 2006. People in the neighborhood gather round in one place where they set-up for the public live telecast viewing over pay per view channel on cable tv, I am not sure if that kind of idea is legal but, we do that set-up everytime there is Manny Pacquiao's battle. Yes, it is Mano-a-mano, Philippines vs. mexico fights.

It was a battle between the top boxers of Philippines and Mexico. The fights highlights the bouts of some world champion Filipino boxers like Jerry Peñalosa, Jimrex Jaca and lot more. But the battle that everybody waited for was between Manny Pacquiao and Larios the main event of Mano-a-mano.

Mexico and Philippine national anthem was the opening of the said main event. You can really see in the eyes of Manny Pacquiao that he has determination to win because the full support of the Filipino people was in every corner of the big dome (Araneta coliseum) and even in the whole Philippines.

First round started and the people were not yet alive for they were adjusting how the fight between the two warriors was. But as soon as the fight was dominated by Manny Pacquiao the people were shouting Manny! Manny! Manny!... Until round seven when Larios fall down on his knees after recieving Manny's punches and the people were even more alive and cheering for that moment. Until the (12th round) last round came, where Larios, knock down for the second time and the crowd was so cheerful for they already knew that the judges' decision will be in favor for Manny Pacquiao.

Back to our niegborhood, the streets were so lonely, you can rarely see anybody along the streets because the people were focusing on the television watching the battle. But after the game is over, people just came out from somewhere's houses like ants coming out of the ant hill, faces so light and joyous for the Filipino once again proved its ability in the fields of boxing.

Manny Pacquiao, the people's champion. We are proud of you and you are our hero.
