Da Vinci Code is a Fictional Novel-slash-Movie


The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, a novel involves a conspiracy by the Catholic Church to cover up the "true" story of Jesus. A worldwide bestseller fiction novel with more than 60 million copies produced and translated into 44 languages.

It is now showing for almost all theaters around the world and the impact of the movie/novel was vey controversial that people buy it and Dan Brown's work was a hit. Some religious groups ask for the deferral of the movie to show on theaters here in the Philippines for it can stir tha faith of the people, but I am not in favor of the actions they want to happen because first and foremost, the story is purely fiction and that it is only the creative idea of Dan Brown that made it so controversial.

I don't think there's a need to ban the showing of the film and especially it was rated as R-18 here in the Philippines. What do the rating boards and some religious sectors think of us the Filipinos? Aren't they so mean discriminating the capacity of the faith of the Filipino people (Christians)? For about more than 2000 years now, we do believe in Christ as our God, our Savior who sacrificed for us to save our sins and yet be shaken with just a fictional novel made by Mr. Dan Brown himself? Wake up!!!

What can I say to everybody is, Go! Watch the movie or read the book and enjoy it if you want to. There's nothing to be fear of or panic about, after all, the entire novel is unrealistic.

No Mobile Phone Since Yesterday

I spent my day yesterday online for almost 24 hours. Just setting in-front of the computer log-in to IRC and my YM account, at the same time optimizing my blog and of course working for the project given by my Ever hardworking Project Manager Jen. At least I submitted to her the first part of my task… not to mention that it has been given to me few weeks ago and I just finish only the first part of it yesterday. (grin)

Its 6 in the morning and I need to go home to have ample sleep and be back right after, to go ahead with my duties and responsibilities here at the office. But before that, I have to write this to have an entry on my blogs.

Yesterday, was my first day without cell phone. No communication through text message with my colleagues and friends, first I thought I can’t make it through the day without a gadge, but I spend the whole day without it… Whew!!! Thanks to the power of Internet, I still somehow get connected around the world.

I am planning to buy a new phone by the end of May or earlier this June, it is either I will go for the Nokia 7610 or the Sony ericsson k700i. Arg! Can’t wait to try the features this phone can offer… though its not a high-end cell phone especially 3G phones are in the market today. Anyway, I can’t use 3G services this days, the trend for 3G phone is not yet in for this season here in the country…

I like the camera feature, but it is in small image size so with its video. Other than that, it’s cool because it can save video of up to approximately 30 minutes. And it has a flashlight, which is useful for taken pictures in dark places or at night… but what this gadget so useful to me is that every time there’s a power failure, I can make use of the built-in flashlight to glow my path. (toink!!! + grin and winks)

This Phone also has a Radio enable feature, which makes your quiet moment bustling by listening to your favorite DeeJay…

It can practically playback any sound file on the list, MP3, MIDI, AMR, MPEG4 and more… It has also a Djmix or DJ keymaker to personalize the poly tunes of your choice.

Poseidon

Chris Daughtry’s Elimination last Wednesday was a bit surprising and I ended up blogging on my Movie and Music Review Blog… Anyway, so much for the American Idol, Yesterday I watched the movie Poseidon together with my two officemates, after our work we headed directly to the SM Cinema and bought tickets.

The action of the movie started when a tidal wave strike the luxury cruise ship ”Poseidon” just when they counted down and celebrated the New Year at the cruise along the Atlantic Ocean. The wave turned the cruise upside-down in the ocean and since the ship was designed to stay afloat upside-down in the water, most people alive trapped inside stays and waited for the rescue to come as what the captain instructed, but Dylan Johns (Josh Lucas) ignored him and sets out to come out the almost sunk upside-down ship to save himself. Soon, Dylan is followed by others, the desperate father (Kurt Russell) in search for his daughter Jennifer (Emmy Rossum) together with her boy friend Christian (Mike Vogel), a single Mom (Jacinda Barrett) with a son named Conor (Jimmy Bennett), (Mia Maestro) the stowaway at the cruise and Richard Nelson (Richard Dreyfuss) a man who happens to commit suicide on the ship but changes his mind when he saw the tidal wave coming.

Along the way to their search for safety inside the unstable inverted wrecked ship, each of them must obtain on their strength and skills in order for them to survive before it’s too late.

The movie was awesome, the graphics, the actions and the cast were great. All in all the cinematic touches was almost perfect. This is another disaster movie, the scenes are most likely you can be seen at the “Titanic” and the “Perfect Storm” but this one has more suspense, drama and horrifying actions and awesome cinematography. The whole movie settings is in the ship, I never seen any land on this film. From the start to the end, all you can see is the interior of the luxury cruise Poseidon and of course the ocean. A must see movie for everyone, this movie will keep you glued in your seat.

Get to know your parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good.

Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths:
Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old.
And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble, and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.

Don't expect anyone else to support you.
Maybe you have a trust fund. Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse. But you never know when either one might run out.
Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40 it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it.
Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen.

The above lyrics is the pop-soliloquy by Lee Perry and Quindon Tarver, which was released in Australia at the end of October, 1997, from the album " Something for everyone " by Baz Luhrman.
The words are from a commencement speech but not a real commencement speech because it is a column in the Chicago Tribune on June 1, 1997, entitled "ADVICE, LIKE YOUTH, PROBABLY JUST WASTED ON THE YOUNG" written by Mary Theresa Schmich.
The article was spreading around the cyberspace sometime Thursday, July 31, 1997, in a form of email forwarding from friends to friends, claiming to be the 1997 commencement address of Kurt Vonnegut to MIT grads.
Australian film director Baz Luhrmann caught its attention to the email and tracked the source of the speech to Schmich, later he contacted the Chicago Tribune manangement and buy the rights to the words and turn it into a song. He hired Sydney actor Lee Perry Schmich's speech and end up to "Sunscreen song".
