First 3 Southeast Asian women to summit Mt. Everest

When Noelle Wenceslao, Carina Dayondon and Janet Belarmino became the first Southeast Asian women to summit Mt. Everest and the first women in the world to traverse Mt. Everest from the North side to the South side, Himalaya didn’t seem to care.
The country was rejoicing, President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sent a congratulatory message, and the Philippine Coast Guard prepared a heroes welcome for the three summiteers who had just been promoted from seawoman first class to seawoman third class.

Himalaya, though, remains clueless. After all, he’s only five months old. His mommy Janet left two months ago to pursue her dream of conquering the world’s highest peak, and she did so with a heavy heart.

In an article published on the Kathmandu Post titled "Mom of five-month-old atop Everest," Janet was quoted as saying, "I decided to leave him, as I was too focused on the mountain. I believed there was a greater cause behind my decision."

Noelle, on the other hand, brought her loved one with her to the summit, a picture of her mother. Her mom passed away last year due to a stroke. She was on her way to the airport to pick up Noelle when she had the attack. Noelle had just arrived after successfully climbing Mt. Denali in Alaska, the highest mountain in North America. 3 Filipina Candidates in Miss Universe 2007 and a Filipina Host

The first of the three Filipina currently competing in Mexico for this year’s Miss Universe pageant is of course, our official delegate Ana Theresa Licaros. The second one is Kirby Ann Basken, Mutya ng Pilipinas 2006 and now representing Norway in the Miss Universe pageant.

This years Miss Universe Pageant was joined by 3 Filipinas, 1st is Miss Philippines, Anna Theresa Licaros, second is Miss Norway, Kirby Ann Tanbasken, who's mother is a Filipina, Kirby Ann can understand and speak a lot of Filipino-Tagalog language. She is also a Mutya ng Pilipinas 2006 candidate. The 3rd is Miss Germany, Angelina Glass who's father is a Filipino. She said that her father always wants her to listen Filipino music and she likes to listen to it.

This year's Miss Universe host are Mario Lopez and Vanessa Minnillo To Host Miss Universe. Vanessa Minillo is also a half Filipina who's mother is a Filipina and father is Irish-Italian, She is also Miss Teen USA 1998 Winner and two time cover girl of Maxim Magazine and number 15 of Maxim's Hot 100 women. She is also currently dating the singer Nick Lachey and was feature in his music video for What's Left of Me.

In spite of having 3 Filipina candidates and one Filipina host, but none of the 3 candidates made it to the top 15 of this year’s Miss Universe Pageant.

Hillary asks YouTube users for help on song

WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton wants YouTube viewers to pick her campaign theme song — and the response, so far, has been music to her ears.

In a clear appeal to young voters, a YouTube video asks viewers to vote for Clinton's presidential campaign theme song on her Web site. The contest started May 16 and the number of songs was narrowed to 10 on Thursday — five initially suggested by the campaign and five write-in candidates.

They range from U2's "Beautiful Day" to Smash Mouth's version of "I'm a Believer" to Celine Dion's "You and I."

"I want to know what you're thinking on one of the most important questions of this campaign," Clinton said in a mock-serious tone during the initial video. "It's something we've been struggling with, debating, agonizing over for months. So now I'm turning to you, the American people." More>>>

Hiyas ng Mindanao 2007 Pageant, Nilangaw sa Pageant Night?

I never thought it would turn out like that, but I think the promotions of the pageant are not done properly. So much talks about how prestigious the pageant is, but it didn’t turn out that way. One point why people didn’t support the pageant night is they put a high entrance fee, which is very unusual to Cagay-anons. People in Cagayan de Oro City used to watch pageant night like the Miss Cagayan de Oro for free, and here’s Hiyas ng Mindanao 2007, lay a price for everyone to watch it and at the end “nilangaw" lang ang pageant night. Only few people watch it, the candidates’ supporters and some sponsors’ personnel.

Anyway, I hope next time lessons will learn and strategies will be made clearly.

Youngest elected mayor in the Philippines

INABANGA, Newly elected Inabanga Mayor Jose Jono Jumamoy could be the youngest local chief executive to assume office in the country at only 21 years old.
But for Jono, who was elected via a landslide victory over his opponent with over a margin of over 6,000 votes, serving the people of his hometown comes as a great responsibility even with his extensive exposure to local politics and his academic preparations.

The US educated mayor-elect, son of Inabanga's former mayors, graduated with a double degree in Management and International Business at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Florida.

While Jumamoy admits he is a product of a political family, he says his decision to come home and run for mayor in his hometown came after finishing college in the US last November 2006.

In fact, he disclosed, it was never an easy decision considering he was able to secure a working permit in the States and a position at the World Bank which he applied for was already at hand.

"I could have lived a simple without the hassles of politics but I had to weigh my options," he said.

The realization that his education and training in the US could be a great asset if he comes home and, more so, if he will be given a chance to serve in his hometown, came not because his mother, incumbent Mayor Josephine Jumamoy was to end her third term.
The incumbent mayor ran and won as provincial board member in Bohol's second congressional district.

The young Jumamoy bared that he "owes it to the people" of Inabanga for being elected as their mayor. "When you are 21-years old, to be mayor is a big responsibility."
In fact, he was given a clear mandate with the election of his entire slate, from the vice mayor down to his eight candidates for councilor.

"I would be able to handle the position well," Jumamoy assured as he points out that growing up in a family of politicians, he was exposed early to politics as he was also a Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) president of Inabanga and vice president of the SK Bohol Federation before leaving to study in the States. The Camiguin Vacation Trip

Two weeks ago, I was in Camiguin Island for a short vacation with my friends and even though we just spent two days there, the experience we had was awesome that we were like the contestants of the reality TV show “Amazing Race”. Actually, we don’t have itinerary route when we went there and we just went every possible place we can think of. The result, awesome great! Saving The Best not for Last

This is so unusual because most of my blogging posts were written outside our home and I am here in my room, writing for this article on my blog. Mostly in the office, everytime I had time or bored at work, I will take a break to write a blogpost. It is not really make me unproductive everytime I wrote a blogpost at work. It’s just my leisure interest to cease my boredom at work. But now, I think all the boredom is in me, because I am now jobless and stayed at home. I didn’t plan to get employed yet this time, I’ll just make this moment a time to have a break and focus on my blogging life, since my blogging habit caused me an expensive mistakes.

I think what happened to me last week was a lesson that I learned, I need to be tactful and reserve sometimes, though it is not really recommended to be tame always with people. In life, you need to fight for what you think is right for you. As what I've said before that I do things I want to do and if it works, GREAT! And if it’s not, fuck it and just go on with your life. Because, I am afraid that if I will not do the things I wanted to do now, I might regret it tomorrow and for the rest of my life for not doing it when I had the chance.

I also learned that people were different. They said that there are only two kinds of people in this world, the one who will fuck you in-front the other is the one who will fuck you at your back and I already met those two kinds of people. Too much loyalty with other people will caused you something, worst is, it will cause your life. But for me, I paid the price of unemployment. I never thought that people who were so good to you will later won't contemplate you when your time comes. I find out, that in this life it is either you use people or they will use you and I have been used.

Anyway, life is a rollercoaster. Sometimes you’re down, sometimes you’re up but this time I am not on my lowest downs neither on my highest ups, I am in the middle and I am working for it to be on top.
