Iligan, City of Waterfalls

Maria Cristina Falls, Tinago Falls and Dodiongan Falls

I’m here at the City of Waterfalls, Iligan City. Located at the northwestern coast of Mindanao facing Iligan Bay. It is centrally located in the Visayas-Mindanao domestic market and proximate to the BIMP East AEAN Growth Area. A major component of the Cagayan-Iligan Corridor, the fastest growing regional growth center in Mindanao and one of the priority investment areas in the Philippines. It is the home of the country's steel industry and Mindanao's electric power source.

Just arrived yesterday from Cagayan de Oro for a Family Day Outing of my sister’s company, where she works. It’s a 1.5 to 2 hours travel from Cagayan de Oro by Bus. While on the way going here, I enjoyed the scenic view of the beaches and mountains of western Misamis Oriental. We pass several Municipalities of Misamis Oriental from Opol to Lugait.

This is my second time visiting this place; the first time was in my freshmen year in High School, a field trip. It is very different then and now everything is in progress, it’s pretty much like Cagayan de Oro, 3 or 5 years before in terms of amenities and other recreations and facilities, like their transportation means. Their taxis are the old model type and PU were still operating and their jeepneys are not the typical jeepneys we see in Cagayan de Oro and other cities but what I really like here is the horse carriage which they still use for their means of transportation. I really want to ride on it but unfortunately I didn’t have the time to experienced it because its route were limited within the city proper and my time to spend in this city is also limited for I have works the following day. I also didn’t have the opportunity to glance and visit again the famous Maria Cristina falls.

For the meantime, I will enjoy this day, we’ll be going at Villa Lacida, Linamon, Lanao del Norte the place where the Family Day Outing be held. I am sure they will serve lots of foods and the beach will surely take away the summer heat I feel today.

The Star Wars Episode III - World Premier Show Last Night

The saga is complete. Last night I just seen the world premier of the Star Wars (Episode III) - The Revenge of the Sith, and it’s a thumbs up for me, even though I am not a Star Wars fanatic but it captures my attention especially the visual effects of the movie. The two big battles - Anakin against Obi-Wan and the Emperor against Yoda was the highlight of the movie for me. I was really entertained by the two fight scenes. I had only watched the episodes I, II, and this time III – The Revenge of the Sith, the prequels of the total 6 episodes and if this is to be the last big-screen installment of the space opera, damn! I need to watch its other half three parts, the Part IV – New Hope, V – Empire Strikes back and VI – The Return of the Jedi, which was the First to be shown some other years back and I didn’t saw it Ohhh… man! They said you need to watch it because that was the last part of the story. My Star Wars saga was not really complete; I think I need to look for CD’s of the last 3 episodes.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin and Yoda with there Lightsabers

Revenge of the Sith doesn't really answer any questions to those who are Star wars fanatic, since they know the answers already. Anakin Skywalker is seduced to the dark side of the Force and becomes Darth Vader. Chancellor Palpatine is revealed to be Darth Sidious. The Jedi are annihilated. Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda go into exile on different planets. The democratic Republic is devoured by the Empire. Instead of answers, what they gained from watching Revenge of the Sith is details. This film, the 6 episodes are like jigsaw puzzles, you can start anywhere and that’s what Lucas did in this movie. He started first on the last three episodes, then last the first three episodes which complete the saga. In this episode Anakin’s wife is pregnant and gave birth to the twins (Lea and Luke) on the last part of the story. Revenge of the Sith features two classic confrontations: Anakin against Obi-Wan and the Emperor against Yoda. We may know how the Anakin/Obi-Wan duel ends, but the thrill here is seeing how it plays out to get to that ending.

While watching the movie, what happens was while Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin’s fight was on the scene, the sounds system of SM cinema 2 was busted, damn!!! And they stopped the movie for a while for around 1-2 minutes. I just said “common this is a premier show and this is what we experienced?” Well anyway everything is under control, it’s just a matter of technical error or something but my Star Wars adventure that night was awesome, it started around 11:30 pm and I got home around 3:00 am. Thanks Tabby for the ticket. Heheheh…

Fiesta, Fiesta, Fiesta!!!

Yesterday was our Barangay fiesta, and oh boy! My mom prepared a lot of foods, bad news for those on a diet and health conscious people (hehehe… can’t eat too much). We slaughtered a pig (ewww…) but I did not join in slaughtering. I can’t stand on it, I am an animal lover. Well anyway it is a Filipino tradition every fiesta, it’s a thanks giving to the patron saint San Isidro Labrador for a prosperous year and life.

On that day, around 6 in the morning while I’m still on my bed, snoring, I have had a dozen of visitors arrived at home, my Officemates, they’re from the graveyard shift schedule that time that’s why they came so early ‘coz they just off from work at 5 am. Thanks to my mom, she cooked instantly for my visitor’s breakfast. After their breakfast I bought two bottles of Long neck tanduay rhum hmm… Too early to drink hard liquor but those people are used to drink very early. I turned on the VCD player and let them sing the videoke until 12 noon, and we ate for lunch after. Anyway that was fun, we sang on the videoke the whole morning and my visitors got drank so early.

Ahh man!!! I just forgot to attend the baptismal of Roniel’s son, whom I promised to be one of the godfather and I forgot about it, ohh boy! I think I need some explanation to my friend Roniel. Later that day, other visitors and relatives came, until night came 7pm, I feel so tired from the day’s event and I must sleep to rest. But to my surprise I sleep so tightly that I forgot again to watch the grand final showdown of the much awaited Search for the Star in A Million of abs-cbn network. Damn! I missed it… But thanks! one of my two bet finalist from Iligan and Bohol, Nikki Baculod and Jerome Sala, the latter won as a Grand Champion, a kababayan of my father. Boholanos are such talented person. Speaking of Bohol, lots of fiestas are celebrated this month there. It’s been four years since my last visit of the place, hope within this month I can go visit the place again, my father’s hometown. Viva Sr. San Isidro Labrador!!!

Going Back to School???

Next month is June, the start of school days, last night I thought about going back to school and reminiscing my school days when I was still a student. I can see myself rushing for riding a jeepney to school with new pair of shoes, new jeans and shirts, and new school paraphernalia, which made me eager to go to school every start of the school year.

Ahh man… I just love going back to school; I just missed those days where we cut from our designated classes to go to the mall doing some shoplifting (hahaha… that was before) or going to our classmate’s house food tripping and drinking a lot of beer and watching movies on VHS. VCD’s and DVD’s are rarely available that time.

Those exam days where we used to cheat when we don’t know the answers, using a lot of techniques in cheating. Ohh boy… If only I have the extra money to get my self enrolled at the University, but life changes and we have our new priorities in life.

I am now belonged to the corporate world. I need to focus on my present job, even though it has a low salary but I enjoyed it. Hope someday I get a high paying job or maybe I can go abroad but, naaaaa… I don’t think I can survive when I am away from my homeland, I think I will miss my love ones here. It’s killing me being far away from them. Or maybe I’ll till our land in Bohol doing farming jobs, I think that’s a good idea, I will be the Boss of our land but if ever that will happen, I’ll have to say bye to my Blogging hobbies, uhuhu… Well, anyway that would be my last option. For now I’ll just do a lot of blogging and work to earn money and leave the past behind… I miss you School!!! Speaking of work, I think I need to go back to my work now. Hehehe… was spending the break for blogging… work I am coming…. “comment naman kayo dyan”… ciao…

Playing Love...

I got this story from someone in a Bulletin Board of friendster and somehow it touches my heart... here's the story...

Daniel and Jasmine are sitting alone in the park, one night.

Daniel: I guess we are the left overs in this world

Jasmine: I think so, all of my friends have boyfriends and we are the only 2 persons left in this world without any special person in our life.

Daniel: Yup I don't know what to do

Jasmine: I know! We'll play a game

Daniel: What game?

Jasmine: i'll be your girlfriend for 30 days and you will be my boyfriend.

Daniel: That's a great plan in fact i don't have nothing to do much this following week...

DAY 1:
They watch their first movie and they were both touched by a romantic film.

DAY 4:
They went to the beach and had a picnic... Daniel and Jasmine have their quality time
together.

DAY 12:
Daniel invited Jasmine to a circus and they ride on a Horror House ride. Jasmine was scared and she thought she touched Daniel's hand but she touched someone else's hand instead and they both laughed.

DAY 15:
They saw a fortune teller down the road and they asked for their future advice and the fortune teller said: "My darlings, Please don't waste the time of your life... SPend the rest of your time together happily" Then tears flow out from the teller's eyes.

DAY 20:
Jasmine invited Daniel to go to the hill and they saw a meteor...Jasmine mumbled something.

DAY 28:
They sat on the bus and because of a bumby road Jasmine gave her first kiss to Daniel by accident.

DAY 29:
11:37pm
Jasmine and Daniel sat in the park where they first decided to play this game...

Daniel: I'm tired Jasmine...Do you want anything to drink? I'll buy you one.. I'll just go down the road.

Jasmine: Apple Juice that's all.

Daniel: Wait for me.

20mins later; a stranger approached Jasmine.

Stranger: Are you a friend of Daniel?

Jasmine: Why yes? What happened?

Stranger: A reckless drunken driver ran over daniel and he is critical in the hospital

11:57pm

The doctor came out of the emergency room and he handed out an apple juice and a letter.

Doctor: We found this in daniel's pocket.

Jasmine reads the letter and it says:

Jasmine, This past few days, i realized you are a really cute girl and i am really falling for you.. Your cherished smile your everything when we played this game; before this game would end. I would like you to be my girlfriend for the rest of my life. I love you Jasmine.

Jasmine crumples the paper and shouted:

"Daniel ! i don't want you to die. I love you, Remember that night when we saw a meteor, I mumbled something; I mumbled that I wish we would be together forever and never end this game. Please don't leave me Daniel. I love you! You cannot do this to me"

Then the clock strikes 12

Daniel's heart stoped pumping

THEN IT WAS THE 30TH DAY;

Always love your loved ones and show them how you feel before it is too late...You will never know when they will be gone from your embrace...If you were given a time to bestow petals of everlasting compassion and love to your loved ones? Today is the day, love them while they are still here.

It's my Mom's birthday today!!!

It's my mom's Birthday today May 10, 2005, this morning she cooked her favorite pancit for our breakfast, I help her prepare the ingredients and after it was cooked I am the first one to taste it and Hmmm… so tasty and it satisfies me. The mother’s cooking ability has nothing to compare with because it has an ingredient of love, which is one secret ingredient every mother has, when it comes to cooking foods to her family especially to her children. I am thankful to God for giving me a mother like my mom, thankful for everything she has, everything she did for me. I am so blessed having a wonderful mom like her. For my mom, Happy Birthday! Wishing you all the best in this world… I love you mom.

Quality of life

The better your thinking ability, the better you are at differentiating between valid information and garbage, and the better you’re able to communicate with others, the more successful you'll be in every aspect of your life — business and personal, physical and mental. Because together these skills, or attributes, can:

  • Substantially reduce any tendency you might have to be fearful of life.
  • Change a habitual negative outlook to one that is positive.
  • Get you into the habit of turning inward for solutions to problems, where they always are, rather than outward, where they never are.
  • Bring to you the realization that you, and you alone, are responsible for what happens in your life.
  • Prevent verbal sickness and improve your health in general by changing your outlook.
  • Reorder your priorities for the better.
  • Rearrange your hierarchy of values for the better.
  • Give you the ability to focus on the important things in life while ignoring the unimportant ones.
  • Make you more selective in choosing which ideas to admit into your mind and which to deny passage to.
  • Improve the belief system through which you screen all entering ideas.
  • Keep you from wasting time entertaining false ideas.
  • Reduce the likelihood that others will be able to further their own best interests at your expense.
  • Reduce or even eliminate any tendency you might have to feel guilt.
  • Make it extremely difficult for others to kill your dreams.
  • Make it extremely difficult for others to intimidate you through words alone.
  • Make you more self-reliant.
  • Increase your self-confidence.
  • Give you a better understanding of people.
  • Purge your mind of the accumulated garbage dumped on you by others.
  • Free you from bondage to bits and pieces of what is nothing more than pure mythology.
  • In short, they can transform you by "the renewing of your mind."

OK. Where do we go from here?

May is for M......

May! What comes out first in your mind when you heard the month May? Is it flowers blooming? Is it the start of rainy days? How about Fiesta of Saints? Sta. Cruzan? Going to Bohol will be a nice idea, coz almost everyday there is a fiesta celebration of every town there. May is our Barangay Fiesta. But that is not what’s inside my mind now. May is the month for our beloved mothers. May is also my mom’s birth month. Every second Sunday of May is for Mother’s day, this month is intended for Mothers, and for the many things she gave you. My mother is so special for me; she is the best mom in the whole world for me, no matter what my mom is always my mom. Her name is Lolita, every time I heard that name, I can picture out the mother figure in that name. I love my mom, though I didn’t express it physically but my mom knows and feels that I love her, and I know and feels that she loves me too. Nothing compares the love of a mother, it is a selfless love, and she will give everything she can for you. To my mother, Happy Mother’s Day. I love you, Ma. And the song by Boys II Men entitled “ A Song for Mama” explains my love for my mom…

A Song for Mama

You taught me everything
And everything you’ve given me
I always keep it inside
You’re the driving force in my life, yeah
There isn’t anything
Or anyone I can be
And it just wouldn’t feel right
If I didn’t have you by my side
You were there for me to love and care for me
When skies were grey
Whenever I was down
You were always there to comfort me
And no one else can be what you have been to me
You’ll always be you always will be the girl
In my life for all times

Chorus:
Mama, mama you know I love you
Oh you know I love you
Mama, mama you’re the queen of my heart
Your love is like
Tears from the stars
Mama, I just want you to know
Lovin’ you is like food to my soul
You’re always down for me
Have always been around for me even when I was bad
You showed me right from my wrong
Yes you did
And you took up for me
When everyone was downin’ me
You always did understand
You gave me strength to go on
There was so many times
Looking back when I was so afraid
And then you come to me
And say to me I can face anything
And no one else can do
What you have done for me
You’ll always be
You will always be the girl in my life
Chorus

Netiquette....

It seems nowadays more people in any age bracket use the internet, like chatting, e-mailing and surfing the net. I observed that there’s a lot of internet users don’t have the right manners or don’t observe netiquette that includes me, sometimes. So here’s its ten principles I got from a reference:

  1. First impressions. The agreed formula is to begin with the name of the addressee: don’t use the fuddy-dudy “Dear Rob,” but simply “Rob.” A cherry “Hiya” is over-familiar. Simply launching into your message is unduly abrupt, unless the two of you are regular correspondents rapidly sending messages back and forth.
  2. Mind your manners. NEVER WRITE MESSAGES IN CAPITAL LETTERS – it’s considered the internet equivalent of shouting. Because e-mail takes place in the absence of the recipient, it lacks the inhibition imposed by their presence (even if only on the phone), so it’s easy to be rude or think that e-rudeness doesn’t count.
  3. Think before you send. E-mails fired off in haste may cause lifetimes of repentance. Before you press that button, pause. Do you really mean that insult, threat or offer of money? Would you like to get your message you’re about to send? Are you prepared to honor any offers or threats you make?
  4. You’ve got mail. Always check your messages. Only a fool would leave his post lying around unopened or not listen to his answering machine. The same applies to your e-mail inbox. There is a film producer who hands out his e-mail address but says, “Don’t bother e-mailing me. I never check it.” Why have it in the first place?
  5. Cyberspeak with care. Picasso was a technically brilliant draughtsman, so when he painted women with both eyes on one side of their heads he did so as a matter of creative choice. Similarly, you should not write e-mails in abbreviated or poor English – such as “c ya tonite” or “lol”, meaning “laugh out loud” – unless you have demonstrated a grasp of the real thing. Otherwise you risk being exposed as a fake.
  6. Don’t techno-bully. The internet has its own snobbery, and Web geeks can be terribly rude to those less computer literate. The considerate e-mailer, however, never looks down on those who can’t work the latest gizmos and checks with the recipient that they have the equipment required to read a message or open an attachment. It is not a crime to be baffled by the Web, particularly since its greatest express are often baffled by real life.
  7. Beware mass mailing. It is never flattering to receive an e-mail then discover it has been sent to hundreds of others. Mass mailing is acceptable when sending jokes or invitations, but unacceptable as chain letters. If you have to send a message to everyone in your address book, keep the other names hidden using blind carbon copy (bcc), unless you know they are friends or colleagues.
  8. Say something nice. Some etiquette experts feel that invitations, acceptances and thank-yous should be sent via old fashioned post. I disagree. Moreover, a positive e-mail, be it words of congratulations or affection, can brighten the day.
  9. Never e-dump lovers. On the other hand, it is bad form to give anyone the heave-ho by e-mail. If you must write, rather than see them face to face, it is more respectful to do so by hand. The casualness of e-mail is as insulting as it is dismissive.
  10. Write for the record. Use e-mail as a chance to recreate the joys of letter writing. Telephone conversations vanish into the ether, but all the e-mails you’ve ever send or received are sitting on a hard disk. Who knows? Others may want to read them some day. So remember to put some care into your respondence.

Now, you have the knowledge about netiquette; use it to avoid offence online…
